Monthly Dividend Income – August 2017

Its time for me to post dividend income earned from my portfolios: DRIP, DIP, & RothI enjoy sharing them as these passive dividend income provides me great inspiration and encouragement to keep chugging along and hopefully to the readers.

I achieved four digit plus figure in total passive dividend Income: $1058.23 to be precise. It was almost close to last quarter but still out of park as compared to last August.  That’s awesome. It only shows the power of Dividend Income engine. I’m that much closer to being Financially Independent (FI) and living a life that I want to live.

I want to own securities of Blue chip Aristocrats (companies with 25+ yrs of growing earnings) and Dividend Champions. Once the earned passive dividend income covers all my expenses, I will own my time as well and truly free from 9 to 5 tread mill.

I’d setup a goal of earning $12000.00 in total passive dividend income for this year and received total of $10225.63 so far.

Full Disclosure: Long in all above mentioned securities.

How did your Dividend Income come along in month of August?

Recent Buy – DUK, TOT, SO

I’m looking for companies that are fairly valued, have a decent dividend yield(3% to 6%) and have a fairly long history of paying dividends consistently for 10 years or more. However, there could be some cases for exceptionally good company or a strategic buy for a very long term.

1) Duke Energy, Corp. (DUK)
Utilities are a great place to be when market becomes turbulent. I bought  5 positions in DUK at $86.87 on 9/01 and it’ll add $17.80 of passive income on an annual basis.

2) Total S.A .(TOT)
Its no secret that oil segment has gone thru a rough patch and from prior depth of abyss, it has nicely recovered over time. Irrespective of this,  O&E companies are long-term hold and TOT fits nicely into my diversified energy portfolio. I bought 25 positions in TOT at $52.14 on 9/01 and it’ll add $74.50 of passive income on an annual basis.

3) Southern Corp. (SO)
There has been some pullback in utilities segment. Due to better valuations, I added 25 positions in SO on 9/01 at $48.03. It’ll add $58.00 on an annualized basis that I do not need to work for.

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned securities.
